The Rum

It all started with a vision: to create a rum of such elegance, depth, and complexity that it would stand proudly alongside the finest spirits, earning its place on the tables of the world’s most distinguished chefs. A rum so finely distilled that it requires no additives—no sugar, no vanilla—elevating its unparalleled taste. Ultimately, it was created as a social spirit, inspired by the bond of friends—known as Fellows—and designed to be enjoyed together. After more than a decade of relentless pursuit, their vision has been realized.

The master distiller

On the agricultural fields of Hans Reisetbauer, tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. Although being the 15th farmer generation, Hans became one of world’s foremost distillers; a master craftsman driven by an unyielding passion for innovation. To realize his vision of the perfect rum, he designed and constructed one of the most innovative and sustainable distilleries in existence. This cutting-edge facility, paired with Hans's exceptional palate, unlocks fresh horizons of flavour.

The ingredients

The journey to crafting the perfect rum begins with sourcing the finest ingredients. For Master Distiller Hans Reisetbauer, this quest led to Mauritius, where a Fairtrade-certified collective of small farmers produces a molasses prized for its exceptional elegance, finesse, and delicate floral notes. To complement this exquisite molasses, Hans taps into a secret Alpine Spring nestled within an ancient rock massif, formed during the Tertiary period. Rich in granite, this geological treasure imparts a remarkable softness to the water, creating the perfect foundation for a rum of unparalleled quality.

The craft

Two state-of-the-art stills, each equipped with 36 sensors, along with cameras monitoring both the interior and exterior, form the heart of the distillation process. A specially programmed computer system processes complex data in real time, enabling the fermentation of molasses with different yeasts at different temperatures. These innovations were essential to refining an ancient craft and unlocking the true potential of the Rum.  Through a meticulous process of daily tasting, refining, and retasting, the rum has achieved a level of perfection that embodies true excellence in every drop.

The taste

Aged for over two months in 8,000-liter Pichon-Longueville casks and further matured in 500-liter casks of the finest Ysper oak, the final For Fellows X.O. Rum emerges as a light amber spirit that is full-bodied, smooth, and remarkably flavourful. The nose is rich, revealing spicy aromas, smoky undertones, delicate caramel, and subtle hints of orange zest. On the palate, it is both balanced and exceptionally complex, offering nuances of exotic fruits, smoky accents, and pure sugarcane notes. The finish is delicate yet multi-layered, impressively long, and leaves a lasting impression. Remarkably, this exquisite taste is achieved without any additives, not even sugar.
